Man In A Boat - D.D.T.
WATCH VIDEOThis video was shot in the freight elevator in the basement of the old Town Pump and in a small apartment bathroom in Kits. DDT really brought it to the performance for this video, they were a great band to collaborate with and came into the video with a pretty solid concept in mind. I think we just added the elevator and changed the colour of the bath water.
I co-directed this video with my cinematopher friend Stephen Maier.
This video was placed on MuchMusic's "Too Much for Much List" because of the song title. Imagine if we had of went with the original colour of bath water.
Fly - Nickelback
WATCH VIDEOI made this video for (then unsigned) Nickleback for the MusicWest Expo in 1997. Nickleback had a song on the soundtrack of the Canadian independent film Horsey and the video incorporated film footage intercut with performance footage of the band.
I shot the Nickleback footage in a tiny studio out at the Justice Institute of BC, using a hand-crank, spring-loaded Bolex 16mm camera; no takes over 26 seconds - so lots of slo-mo and close-ups.
I cut this video on the AVID (with the help of Craig McEwen, working simultaneously) completing the video in time to hand deliver it to the venue ten minutes before it was to air, low budget - high drama.
The video was later re-edited by my wife, Melanie Snagg, "tightening it" for broadcast.

Weird-Ohs
Weird-Ohs was an example of over-development. Radical shifts in style and direction, according to the multiple "target audience" changes from the various broadcasters, drained the series of it's originality and left the show feeling very forumalic. All that aside, it was one of the most enjoable experiences I've had working in CGI animated television.
